Las Rosadas
Punta Pedula, Mexico
Our First international build
A project collaborating with Dave Weins, the godfather of trails in Gunnison, CO and pro mountain bike racer who beat Lance Armstrong! Las Rosadas is a private community that is building a single track trail system through really awesome dryland jungle and forest reserve. We designed and mapped routes through some tough, super thick jungle. Even though it was the dry season, and most of the vegetation was dormant, the vines, trees and bushes all had thorns! We got some nice routes flagged and set to work clearing corridor, leading a 6 man local crew...whats cool about about trail building is it is such a visual craft, so teaching the local guys without much spanish worked great! After a lot of clearing and paying special attention to not damage important trees, we ended up with some sweet trail that opened up the forest to trail users. Las Rosadas is a special place with amazing beach coastline, lagoons, and 300+acres of forest reserve, the land butts up to a biological reserve and luckily its fences have saved the land from ranch overgrazing, so the forest makeup is really diverse with all sorts of unusual and unique plants. Once we had trail corridor cleared, loads of different butterflies started floating around using the trail too! We've completed the second phase of what will be a really valuable trail network that we hope will inspire many others to come.
