Utilizing resources and growing forest...

Are the principals we followed on this project. When a large native Koa tree fell down just next to the bike trail, we knew we had to make an effort to pay respect to this beautiful resource. After obtaining the appropriate permitting through the Hawaii DLNR we set to work. A huge job it was hauling hardwood logs out of the forest but it was worth it! We are curing some gorgeous slabs for sale in the next year. To wrap up the project we planted a mix of native trees and shrubs in the old tree's place...The Koa trees are facing hard times in their native forest, out competed by imported tree species and grasses, we are working towards establishing a plan for reforestation along the bike trails.
